What is Plastic-Waste EPR Certificate?

Extended Producer Responsibility’(EPR) “extended producer’s responsibility” means the responsibility of a producer for Plastic Waste generation for their environmentally sound management of the product until the end of its life;

Extended Producer Responsibility may comprise of implementing a take back   system or setting up of collection centers or both and having agreed arrangements with authorized recycler.

Documents Required for E-Waste EPR Registration

  • Company GST Certificate, IEC Certificate, PAN card, CIN certificate and MSME certificate.
  • PAN card and Aadhar Card of Authorized Signatory Person from the company.
  • One email ID and Mobile number for OTP verification.
  • Details of Products Import/Manufacturer and sales data record of previous financial will be required.

What is the Validity of Plastic Waste EPR Certificate?

Plastic Waste EPR Certificate is valid for 1 years and after that Post Compliance/ Annual returns filling  will be required mandatory.

Validity of EPR Certificate?

  • E-waste EPR- 5 years and after that renewal will be required.
  • Batter-waste EPR- 5 years and after that renewal will be required.
  • Tyres-waste EPR- 2 years and after that renewal will be required.
  • Plastic-waste EPR- 1 years and after that Post Compliance is mandatory.
  • Oil Waste EPR- 2 years and after that renewal will be required.

Post Compliance/Annual Returns?

Filing annual returns in the form provided on the portal on or before 30th June following the financial year to which that return relates.

    The following entities shall register on the centralized portal developed by CPCB: I. Producer (P) II. Importer (I) III. Brand owner (BO) IV. Plastic Waste Processor engaged in (a) recycling, (b) waste to energy,(c) waste to oil, and (d) industrial composting.

    The following plastic packaging categories are covered under EPR: 1. Category I : Rigid plastic packaging 2. Category II : Flexible plastic packaging of single layer or multilayer (more than one layer with different types of plastic), plastic sheets or like and covers made of plastic sheet, carry bags, plastic sachet or pouches 3. Category III : Multilayered plastic packaging (at least one layer of plastic and at least one layer of material other than plastic) 4. Category IV : Plastic sheet or like used for packaging as well as carry bags made of compostable plastics

    All producers are required to submit the consents issued to their production facilities. Brand-owners having their own production facilities are required to submit the consents.

    Operation means selling of plastic packaging product or products with plastic packaging or carry bags or multilayered packaging or plastic sheets or like into the Indian Market.

    Raw material for Brand owner and importer is plastic packaging of products or carry bags or multilayered packaging or plastic sheets or like. Further, raw material for Producer is resin/granules being used to manufacture carry bags or multilayered packaging or plastic sheets or like.

    The Micro & Small category of Brandowners are exempted from fulfilling EPR obligation. Remaining all entities are required to be registered on Centralized EPR portal in line with notified EPR Guidelines
